Lore and Luster Cosplay Contest Rules and Regulations

The Lore and Luster Cosplay Contest celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and community. Whether you're a seasoned cosplayer or trying it out for the first time, we welcome all romantasy fans to showcase their favorite looks on stage!

Participation is free with your convention ticket, but advance sign-up is required to compete.

    • All participants must be Lore and Luster con attendees.

    • Costumes must be PG-13—no nudity, hateful symbols, or excessive gore.

    • Props must be safe and con-approved. No live steel, projectiles, or fire.

    • Original characters are allowed if clearly romance, fantasy or romantasy-inspired. Include a short description on the application.

    • Performance time is limited to 60 seconds max unless pre-approved. Please indicate your music selection.

    • Pre-judging for craftsmanship may take place prior to the contest—details will be emailed.

    • Be respectful. Any behavior deemed disruptive or discriminatory will result in disqualification.

    • All entries must submit a completed application by the posted deadline.

    • Character actors and hired staff may not enter

  • Costumes will be judged on overall impact, including creativity, craftsmanship, and stage presence. Whether handmade or closet-built, we’re looking for looks that embody the spirit of fantasy, romance and romantasy, showcase character expression, and light up the stage with confidence and flair.

    • 🌹 Court Favorite – Audience Choice (crowd applause) - Grab Bag

    • 🧵 Thread & Thorn Honor – Judge’s Pick for craftsmanship or detail - Grab Bag

  • COSPLAY CONTEST PRELIMINARIES – CROWD APPLAUSE FORMAT

    📍 Location: Tacoma Armory | Main Stage | Parade Room Floor

    🕒 Timing: April 18th - 11AM

    ✨ HOW IT WORKS:

    1. Check-In & Line-Up

      • Each entrant gets a number and is lined up in order.

    2. Quick Walk or Pose Moment

      • Each contestant walks up, poses, twirls, or acts out a character moment—short and sweet.

      • Emcee hypes each one up and introduces them.

    3. Crowd Voting

      • After each walk, the emcee does a round of applause voting.

      • 10-12 finalist will advance to finals.

    FINALS

    Finalists compete again with another walk/pose moment on April 19th at 12pm.

    Judges award:

    1. 🌟 Enchanted Spotlight – Best overall ($100 market spree)

    2. 🧵 Thread & Thorn – Best craftsmanship (grab bag)

    3. 🌹 Court Favorite is chosen via crowd applause from the finalist pool.
